German football to conquer Europe

German football is aiming to conquer Europe according to the chairman of Bayern Munich, Karl Heinz-Rummenigge as he wants the Bundesliga to continue growing and showing clubs get higher spots in the Europa League and the Champions League.

Germany was crowned as the champions of the world after the team of Joachim Loew lifted the 2014 World Cup title in Brazil and they truly deserved it after making an impressive run in the latest edition of the international competition.

“This is the proof that the Bundesliga is on a good path internationally. We must continue with this, that is the desire.” Bayern Munich chairman Karl Heinz-Rummenigge said.

Out of the last 16 teams which are still competing in the Champions League, Germany is well represented with: Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, Schalke 04 and Bayern Munich. That’s a total of 4 clubs which is the highest amount of clubs from a respective country.

In the UEFA coefficient ranking of leagues, Germany is currently ranked in 3rd place behind Spain and England but this is something that Rummenigge is hoping and expecting that can change soon as the German clubs are performing better and better each season.

“If we continue like this, we have the chance to catch the English in second place. I do not know if we are title favorites. There are 16 clubs, of which I look on at least half as title contenders.”Bayern Munich’s Heinz-Rummenigge added on as he expressed his optimism concerning the position of Germany in the UEFA coefficient ranking system.

Italy is positioned behind Germany in the 4th spot by the UEFA ranking but Italian football has really been struggling in the past few years as Juventus is the only Italian team which is competing in the last 16 teams of the Champions League while Germany has shown a significant growth meanwhile Spain and England are well represented with 3 clubs each.
