KROOS BECOMES HIGHEST PAID IN GERMAN SOCCER HISTORY

By completing a deal with the Spanish club, Real Madrid, Toni Kroos has now made history as the highest paid German in the history of German Soccer.

Real Madrid made the announcement, revealing that Kroos signed a new contract with them thus extending his stay in the Zinedine Zidane-led side.

The announcement which came on Wednesday reveals that the new contract will mean that Kroos will remain with the club till 2022. Before this development, Bild, a German publication had already revealed that with the new deal, Kroos will now become the highest paid German footballer.

There were no other comments from Los Blancos on the new contract with Kroos after stating that a meet with the media might happen on Thursday. However, when it comes with salaries of German footballers, Bild is a reliable source.

It has been alleged that on an annual basis, the 26 year old German national will go home with €20 million (R317 million) before tax. By the time his contract at Santiago Bernabeu expires in 2022, Kroos would have earned a whopping €120 million (R1.9 billion).

Bild claims that the new annual salary of the German national would surpass that of Thomas Muller, Bayern Munich’s star player. Muller was the highest paid German player, taking home €15 million (R238 million) on an annual basis before his dethronement by Kroos.

These two now top the list of Germany’s top four earners, with Bastian Schweinsteiger, Manchester United outcast who earns €14 million (R222 million) annually and Ilkay Gundogan, Manchester City with an annual salary of €12 million (R190 million) completing the list.

Kroos, who joined Real Madrid from Bayern in 2014, has made 108 appearances for his team so far and scored four goals with about thirty one assists.
